The Pilates Principles

 He was a wise old thing that Joseph Pilates wasn't he??  Probably way ahead of his time...

 

This blog is going to highlight and concentrate on the importance of another of his pilates principles - PRECISION.

 

Don't forget, the key to effective pilates is precise, mindful execution of your movements, coupled with perfect alignment.  Sounds simple doesn't it?!  Why then do we struggle so?  Our lives and minds are so busy these days, sometimes it can be difficult to switch off and think of nothing but your pilates class.

 

However, if we move with precision we work the muscles correctly without any unnecessary strain or tension, and obviously therefore we are minimising that wasted energy.  

 

As you execute your repetitions, practise giving each component of your exercise equal attention, to make each  movement more precise and therefore gain more from your pilates session.  Focus on your timing and pace and bring determination to each movement.  Think about breathing, control, feel the actions and strive to bring precision to each move you make.

 

NO PART OF YOUR EXERCISE SHOULD BE AN AFTERTHOUGHT!

 

Classes resume next week ....looking forward to getting going again after the Christmas break!  I know we all feel that our cores have been buried under layers of Baileys and mince pies, but here's to beating them into submission again!!
